Raúl Patricio “Chango” Mendes, a great friend, one of those you rarely meet in life, has passed away. We met at the Thursday Emergency Room at Gutiérrez Hospital in La Plata. He was a medical intern, and I was a fourth-year medical student. We later met in Ward 17 of the old D’Amelio Pavilion at the San Martín Polyclinic, also in La Plata, where the Diabetes and Endocrinology Service operated, along with other colleagues I also became friends with, such as Pepe Costa Gil and Néstor Auciello.
