Abstract

Diabetes is a chronic and complex disease that requires continuous medical care, with interventions that go beyond mere glycemic control. The patient's participation in their self-care and the correct use of the tools by the medical community are essential for their adequate treatment.

The Argentine Diabetes Society, through these recommendations, attempts to provide clinicians, specialists and any other interested individual with the basic concepts to evaluate and decide the treatment of a patient with diabetes. We intend that these guidelines be applied in an appropriate clinical context and adjusted to the individual preferences of each patient, according to their comorbidities and other risks that may be present and determine the choice of treatment to follow.
