iECAs and iARAII in fertile women

The prevalence of hypertension among young women in Argentina is between 6.9% in those under 35 years old and 18.5% in those between 35-451. Likewise, people with diabetes mellitus (DM) are 1-5 to 3 times more likely to suffer from hypertension2. Renin-angiotensin system inhibitors (iECAs) and angiotensin II receptor blockers (iARAII) are the most prescribed drugs for patients with hypertension. Sex-specific pathophysiological, pharmacokinetic, and bioavailability differences indicate that women with HTA require individualized treatment.
