Abstract

Those who did not know her will perhaps find her in some quote inevitably related to the epidemiology of diabetes mellitus, or will hear her name in a serious and well-founded conversation on this subject that, in our country, grew and was enriched by her. For those of us who share the honor of knowing her, she represented and will always represent a very rare combination of intuition, lucidity, strength, tenacity, resilience and integrity.
