Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a disease that is linked to Argentine history. In the 19th century it is known that there were two personalities who suffered from it: Prilidiano Pueyrredón and Florentino Ameghino. It is likely that there are more patients, but it is unknown in documentary form who they were.

Likewise, on other occasions, the diagnosis of diabetes was not made public or went unnoticed, as was the case of our senior writer Jorge Luis Borges.
