Abstract

Obesity is a chronic disease that generates high health costs, whose treatment is sometimes not addressed or is done inadequately, and is often not based on available evidence. That is why, based on an initiative of the Argentine Nutrition Society, different scientific societies met with the objective of constructing an updated document, based on a scientific methodology, that contributes to the best treatment of people living with obesity in Argentina.

This is the first Intersocietal Consensus for the treatment of Obesity in adults in Argentina from which recommendations for clinical practice based on scientific evidence were obtained. It is a fundamental need to have tools, appropriate to the local reality, and agreed upon by experts from different disciplines.
