Traditionally, care for patients with type 1 diabetes has been approached as a process divided into two stages: childhood and adulthood. An evolutionary view focuses on diabetes 1 as a chronic disease, which goes through different stages of development with biological differences, changes in the family and social context until reaching maturity, and which, therefore, requires adaptations of the health system to charge of their care from childhood to adulthood.
