Bariatric surgery in kidney pre-transplant and advanced chronic kidney disease
Obesity and chronic kidney disease represent a problem for global public health. An increase can be observed in the prevalence of both diseases during the last decades.
Epidemiological studies suggest that obesity is a risk factor independent of the development of the chronic kidney disease, proving a relationship between the increase of prevalence of chronic kidney disease and the increase of body mass index.
