Anxiety work in diabetes mellitus
More than half of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) present anxiety and/or depression. Those with macrovascular complications show more anxiety, but not those with microvascular complications.
Abnormal levels of anxiety are predictors of poor quality in DM2. Anxiety has a direct relationship with older age, married marital status, living with several cohabitants, sedentary lifestyle and low education. Patients with DM2 on insulin have a lower quality of life, functional capacity and socialization.
