In the current complex medical scenario, health professionals who accompany people living with diabetes mellitus (DM) are going through challenging times, in which permanent updating, from all the different aspects that comprise the correct follow-up of the patient, seems difficult to encompass.
It is estimated that between 150 and 200 scientific articles are published daily on DM worldwide. This includes a wide range of research, from basic studies, clinical studies and controlled trials to systematic reviews, meta-analyses and epidemiological studies. However, there are so many advances in the understanding of pathophysiology, the development of new therapies and technologies, and the identification of best clinical practices that can benefit our patients and dramatically change their evolution and the appearance of complications, that we are updated with quality information becomes an ethical imperative.
In this context, the Argentine Diabetes Society stands as a guiding light and unifier of efforts, bringing together experts from various fields and parts of the country to forge a comprehensive and collaborative approach in the management of this disease.
In this spirit, this supplement of recommendations represents the fruit of the effort and dedication of multiple Committees, each focused on specific areas of DM medical care, but all with the fundamental premise of teamwork.
