Abstract

The 24th Argentine Diabetes Congress, which took place in the city of Mendoza from October 23 to 26, was very special because as a Society we had a lot to celebrate; this explained the presence, upon arrival at the Congress venue, of the jugglers on stilts and clowns who greeted each attendee with a smile.

The first relevant reason to highlight was the 70 years since the creation of the Argentine Diabetes Society (SAD), in 1954, with the driving idea of Dr. Rafael Camerini Davalos to form a group to think about and discuss issues related to diabetes and today we already have more than 3,000 members. This event brought together 3,126 participants, including members and non-members; in addition, 250 national and international speakers presented different aspects, with a discussion table on Latin American issues, and 33 oral presentations and 93 posters; we also added the new experience of creating more than 40 workshops on various topics.
