Abstract

Symposium 20: Diabetic foot: What have we learned?

Telehealth and diabetic foot

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), telehealth involves the delivery of health services using ICT when distance is an obstacle to accessibility, and includes teleconsulting, teleeducation and teleresearch in a telemanagement framework.

It is an innovation of health systems around the world that is here to stay based on the concept of integrated health networks providing equity and access to health. The skin manifestations in diabetes are numerous and varied; They range between 30 to 70%, and if the metabolic effects on microcirculation, changes in skin collagen and those related to neuropathy are considered, these figures would increase to 100%.
